Beth Hillel Temple Application for Membership
MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS:

1. Please fill out application and Membership Community Commitment pledge form. Beth Hillel Temple has adopted a "Member Community Commitment" program in lieu of a more traditional categorical dues system. This approach empowers each member to become an active stakeholder in the support of the temple community. We ask our members to determine the level of support for the congregation which they are best able to provide.
2. Beth Hillel Leadership Committee will review the application. This committee meets the second Tuesday of each month.
3. The Membership Committee will inform you of membership status after the Leadership Committee meeting.
4. The Beth Hillel office will send you a welcome packet.

If you have any questions about the membership process, please contact the Beth Hillel Temple office Tuesday - Friday, 10am - 3pm.

MEMBER COMMUNITY COMMITMENT PROCESS:

In July, 2015, Beth Hillel Temple decided to adopt a progressive “Member Community Commitment” (MCC) program. This approach empowers each member to determine the level of support for the congregation which they are best able to provide. Members are not invoiced a specified dues amount but rather they are asked to make a personal MCC.

This system reflects Beth Hillel Temple's values and particularly reinforces our goals to be inclusive and welcoming to all regardless of financial means. We believe our members’ connection with our temple is strong and that each member understands the importance their individual support has in ensuring Beth Hillel Temple collects the funds required to sustain high quality programming, maintain our building, and afford our highly experienced full time Rabbi. Importantly, we also believe the system will reinforce each member’s understanding of their role in sustaining our Jewish community.

How does the MCC work? When filling out a new member application, prospective members are also requested to complete the pledge form indicating the amount of their annual pledge and payment preferences. The application and pledge form are submitted together. Your pledge amount does not affect your membership status.

How do I determine the annual MCC that is right for me? First, it’s important to understand what is needed to sustain the temple. To keep the lights on, to run programming, and to pay our Rabbi and staff requires an average of $2,500 in support from each member household. This amount includes only our operating expenses. It does not allow for any significant repairs or improvements. We realize some members are unable to afford this sustaining amount and thankfully others do step up by paying more.

It is the responsibility of every member of our Jewish community to ensure the temple is strong by doing their part both financially and participating in the multitude of opportunities the temple has to offer.

Beth Hillel Temple Photo Release Form

With this form, your permission is requested for photos of you and your family members to be published in Beth Hillel Temple’s newsletters, web site and other publicity materials so that we may celebrate and publicize our congregation and its activities.

Temple policy dictates that when children are the primary subject of the photo, even if prior parental permission has been obtained on registration forms, an extra step of notifying parents to let them know that we are considering using their child’s photo will be undertaken.

When adults are featured and easily identified (i.e., they are the main or only subject of the picture), we will have their permission prior to publication of their photo and name in the caption of materials publicly accessible. Names will not be associated with any pictures posted on Facebook and pictures will not be tagged.

Group shots, silhouettes, long-distance views, and other photos in which individual children are not identifiable do not require permission for publishing on the web.

Personal addresses, e-mails and phone numbers of members will not be posted on the public portion of the website.
