Blacklist:The Hollywood Red Scare – Museum Trip

On Sunday, January 20, BHT will travel to the Milwaukee Jewish Museum for a 3:00 pm tour of its current exhibit, Blacklist: The Hollywood Red Scare, led by exhibit creator and the Museum’s Director of Education, Ellie Gettinger.  The cost of the tour is $4.50. ($4 special rate for BHT members, plus an added $.50 to pay for $25 group charge to BHT.)  We will have dinner together afterward at a nearby restaurant to be determined on Milwaukee’s East Side, “Dutch treat.”  See exhibit details below.

Blacklist: The Hollywood Red Scare is a multi-sensory exhibit that explores the intersection of politics, art, economics, and the social dynamics that impacted the American First Amendment rights of speech, religion, and assembly during Hollywood’s Red Scare. Through personal narratives of those who were blacklisted, members of House Un-American Activities Committee or HUAC, and film executives, Blacklist examines the shifting definition of what it meant and means to be a patriotic American.

Blacklist: The Hollywood Red Scare was originally curated by Jewish Museum Milwaukee.

To register please fill out the form below. The cost is $4.50/person. You may pay through Rakefet by clicking on the rakefet icon on our homepage or by sending a check to the Temple office.
